DAY 19: S for "Sunset Skies"

"The Drive Home"
Day 19 PAINTING: Oil on panel 6"x14"

"S" is for "Sunset Sky"

I want to paint more skies. They can be so beautiful. I like to tell God when he does a good job on his skies. The cold clear days we have had recently have made for some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Skies are hard to paint, well especially when lots of clouds are involved. I need to learn to blend colors from dark to light with soft transitions. I have seen beautiful paintings of dramatic skies with such minimal simple landscapes. I want to improve at doing this. So here is one of hopefully many to come palouse skies.

DAY 18: "R" is for "Remembering Candace"

"Sharing the last cookie"

Day 18 PAINTING: Oil on canvas 8x10

"R" is for "Remembering Candace"

I have some beautiful photos I have taken of my rooster. I am excited to paint them. I was looking forward to today so I could paint "R" for Rooster, as I am painting following the alphabet this month. However Plans changed recently when some long time family friends unexpectedly lost their beautiful 21 year old daughter. Today was the funeral, it was beautiful, now she is in a better place with Jesus. I was inspired to take an old photo I had taken of my son with Candace when they were little kids and paint it to give to the family. So here is a painting dedicated to "Remembering Candace".

Day 17: Q is for Quail

DAY 17 PAINTING: Oil on Panel 6x8 ($125.00)

"Q is for Quail"

I love seeing these critters on my property, as well as hearing them make their cool noises. I think I would have a lot more if I didn't have so many cats. I am definitely learning there is a difference in painting on a board/panel vs. canvas. I think I like both for different reason. I think canvas is better for big, and panels are better for smaller works and more little details. the next few days will be smaller works as i will be oot at my sons hockey tournament in Wenatchee, WA.

DAY 12: Lazy Evening Light on my Longhorn

DAY 12 PAINTING: 6"x8" oil on Panel $125.00

"L" is for ... " Lazy evening Light on my Longhorn"
Original is available, contact the artist to purchase

This is one of my Texas Longhorn Steers that I enjoyed capturing a photo of him awhile back in the evening light. This one along with his buddy got kind of ornery. One time he tried to jump my fence up near the highway, because he thought I had some grain, but I only had the mail in my hands. He got half way over the barb wire fence comin' at me, it kind of freaked me out. I wasn't sure if I should run or scare him back in. So I yelled at him (from a distance) and he finally went back in the fenced pasture. I have cried when some of my steers fell pray to the grim reaper, (mobile butcher) but when this guy met the butcher man, I didn't cry, it actually was kind of a relief. My two current steers, Ted and Whitey, are very nice and sweet steers. ;) Cheers! — Andy Sewell.
